House 4: Leo
House 4 is associated with inner emotional wellbeing, contentment, the mother, property, real estate, agriculture, vehicles and conveyances. House 4 is an Angular house and a house of Moksha (liberation).
The sign is Leo. It’s a fixed sign, masculine, Kshatriya caste, sattvic and of the fire element. Leo represents leadership, one’s own kingdom, leaving a legacy, sacrifice, creativity, conceptual thinking, and commitment to a greater dharma.
For a Taurus Ascendant, combining House 4 with Leo means that their home is their castle. If all is going well, they enjoy their home and vehicles—basically anything on the material plane that can be managed. It’s part of the spiritual path of the Taurus individual to care for their property, and they’ll do it in a way that may leave behind a legacy.
Rasi Aspects and Prosperity & Annihilation
Only Ketu Rasi aspects Leo. As a malefic, this can bring issues of perfectionism and wanting fulfillment through his creative endeavors. This became apparent in his perfectionist attitude about how his creative stories should be portrayed. The 4th house has equal amounts of prosperity and annihilation, and so it’s neutral in how it produces on a basic level.
Planets Occupying House 4
Jupiter is occupying House 4. It’s also aligned in the same degree as his 5th cusp. This speaks to having many creations: from raising four children to his multiple stories in film. Wherever Jupiter resides is where happiness is usually sought. Jupiter in the 4th creates happiness with property.
He also approaches his Leonine “kingdom” with strong Jupiterian influence. His amount of real estate is over and beyond what the average person would ever have. He owns at least 10 different properties, one of which is Skywalker Ranch being valued at over $100 million and spanning 4,700 acres.
Sun’s Function for a Taurus Ascendant
The Sun rules Leo as Lucas’ 4th lord. As a cruel planet this is auspicious, however, the Sun doesn’t rule another house. Because his Sun is in his first house, a Trine, it becomes beneficial.
The Sun reveals one’s creative intelligence, capacity for leadership, inspiration, confidence and consistency. It’s considered masculine, dry, sattvic, Kshatriya caste and looks up to its own goals.
Dignity, Avashtas and Shad Bala of Sun
Lucas’ Sun is in Great Enemy dignity, Kumara and Sushupti Avashtas. It’s a great force in his life by being in adolescence, but when needing to lead, his “default setting” was to not engage well. Initially when directing films, he had his vision but didn’t direct others effectively. He wasn’t a natural born leader, but to bring his visions to fruition he had to learn good leadership.
His Sun’s raw Shad Bala score is the highest of all his planets at 539 points, only lacking in Dig Bala at 82%. But 82% of the time he can act upon his inspirations. Because Mercury’s Dig Bala is incredibly strong, he’s able to manage and manifest the practicalities of his goals.
Lajjitaadi Avashtas on Sun
Sun is conjunct Venus and Mercury, and receives 39 out of 60 points of friendly aspect from the Moon. Jupiter shines 12 points onto the Sun, giving some delight.
Lucas’ Sun is helped greatly by the Moon. As a very self-motivated individual, this Avashta helps him not lose sight of his happiness by becoming too focused on his goals. He does what brings him joy, which is making films, dabbling in architectural designs and being with his family. Even though he’s the richest film celebrity in the world, making money isn’t his end-goal.
What really has dragged on Lucas is Venus starving his Sun. Around 443 points are withdrawn by this Jagrat Venus while his Sun sleeps. With the Sun representing his “kingdom,” he has always felt a great responsibility towards those who work under him, and when he sold ownership of Lucasfilm to Disney, he not only watched the trajectory of Star Wars shift in ways he didn’t like, but the employees at Lucasfilm also suffered financially because of decisions made by Disney’s producers. In this way, his 6th lord Venus created obstacles for those formerly under his “kingly” care.
Yogas
Sun has +7.5 / -3.7 Yoga Judgment score with 49.6 points of Ishta. This is great for the Sun’s yogas, despite the heavy hammer of Venus.
Lucas’ Sun rules his 4th and is in his 1st house. He easily acquires comforts and luxuries, including homes and vehicles. Indeed, a lot of his wealth is invested in real estate. He also loves cars and owns a collection of rare vehicles. Car races and other out-of-this-world vehicular chases are usually prominent in his movies.
Negatively in this bhava yoga of the 4th lord in House 1, he may try too hard for inner contentment. Not only is his 4th lord asleep and hurt from Venus, but his Rahu is in Cancer—the natural 4th sign of the Zodiac representing inner emotional well-being.
Chaturthamsa
Lucas’ Chaturthamsa reveals Jupiter and Sun in House 4, which brings more confluence to his ability to have an expansive “kingdom” of real estate as well as a number of companies producing wealth for him, over and beyond what is needed. Mercury is managing exchanges well in the 7th so that Lucas can have wealth above and beyond what’s necessary. Moon is also in the 7th allowing him to be receptive to the good things in life.
Keep reading! Coming up next we’ll explore George Lucas’ House 5 of creativity, children and some of the hard work and difficulties he had to overcome in order to really allow his mind to produce in the world. Remember, for a Taurus Ascendant, House 5 is in the detail-oriented sign of Virgo!
